Day Rooms Updates: Enhancing the residential side of the house

2024 Upstairs Day Rooms: A Strong Start

In 2024, we launched a project to modernize the day rooms on the residential side of our chapter house. Starting with the upstairs rooms, we raised countertops to accommodate large refrigerators underneath, added shelving for storage, and installed a large mirror to brighten the space. We also replaced temporary closets with built-in units, ensuring all members living there have equal amenities. These updates have made the upstairs day rooms more functional and welcoming for our sisters.

Looking Ahead: 2026 Downstairs Day Rooms and Beyond

We’re planning a significant update for the downstairs day rooms in summer 2026, aiming to create consistent, durable spaces across the residential side. The project includes:

  • Lifting Countertops and Adding Shelving: Custom shelving in each room, plus paint, prep, and electrical updates.

  • Added Closets: Four new built-in closets to replace the remaining temporary closets in downstairs rooms.

  • Solid Flooring (LVT/LVP): Durable flooring for all 16 day rooms (11 on the first floor, 5 on the second floor).

  • Hallway Flooring: New LVT/LVP flooring for first- and second-floor hallways.

  • Painting: Fresh paint to revitalize the hallways and day rooms.

The estimated cost for this project is $180,000. This effort will ensure our home remains a comfortable and equitable space for our collegiate members.

Sponsor a Room: Leave Your Mark

Alumnae can sponsor a day room with a gift of $10,000 or more, choosing to donate as an individual, a family, a pledge class, or in memory of someone special. Your name, a loved one’s, a family name, or pledge class can be displayed on the room in perpetuity. We’re flexible and happy to accommodate your request, with no limit to sponsors per room; we’ll add names or details to celebrate every donor’s contribution. Your support will fund the 2026 room renovations or other capital improvements at our chapter house, helping create a lasting legacy for our sisterhood. Contact us for more information.
